Hello everyone! I'm Zoe behind the blog Blessed Bee and Etsy shop Blessed Bee Apothecary. I was so excited when I got an email from Betsy asking to guest post, her blog was one of the very first I started reading. I loved everything they stood for as a family, and having a little family of my own I could relate to the importance of things like organic food, home cooked meals and family life.
There is nothing more exciting than having a tiny new baby, but it can be hectic and finding time for Mama can be almost impossible! So grabbing a treat here and there while baby is napping is a must, I'm going to share this super easy DIY on how to make homemade lotion, a perfect quick pamper treat for anyone.
When you give this a go and see how easy is you won't want to buy creams or lotions again it so easy to tailor the cream to make it perfect for you, all you need is:
-1 cup of oil like almond, olive, vegetable or jojoba to name a few, each has different quality's so try them all or others to find which you prefer.
-1 oz bee's wax
-cooled boiled water or scented water like rose, orange or any others you like
-essential oils (be sure to check out which are safe to use)
-Blender
-Saucepan
-jars or pots

1. Set out all your equipment and ingredience, then measure everything to the correct amount.
2. Put your 1 cup of oil into a saucepan or double boiler then add 1 ounce of beeswax and heat until melted.
3. Pour the oil and wax mixture into the blender and allow it to cool slightly, but not too much that it will set.
4. Now this is the tricky part, mixing the oil and water! Start the blender on a low speed and slowly add around six Tablespoons
of distilled water, rose water, or lavender infused water while the blender is going, give it a good mix. Adding too much too quickly will cause the lotion to split.
5. When you have added enough water to create your ideal lotion texture, give one last blend before scraping the mix in to a jar or pot.
6. The last stage is to add a fragrance using essential oils, add a few drop to the lotion and mix well, It is important to check when using essential oils the safety
requirements as some are not suitable during pregnancy and nursing etc. some safe combinations are lavender and chamomile for a relaxing and soothing or lemon and neroli for fresh and uplifting lotion.
This lotion recipe is great to experiment with by using different oils, waters and scents and you can tailor it to suit you and your familys' needs, if you give it a go let me know how you get on and what extras you add to it id love to hear about them.
I just want to say a big thank you to Betsy for having me over to share this with you, and I wish them all the luck and happiness as their little family grows from 3 to 4, I can't wait to to see and hear about the new adventures they have ahead.
