"Being a mother is the most amazing adventure I have ever taken in my life. I've learnt so much
from each of my 3 daughters. They've taught me to live in the moment, to forgive, to play more and
most importantly how to love unconditionally"
My top three pieces of advice are:
Ask for help
Don't be afraid to ask for help, especially in the first few weeks. You don't have
to be a superwoman and do everything yourself. Ask your visitor to make you a cup of tea,
or put the hoover round, or throw a load of laundry in. Ask for someone to watch the baby for any
hour so you can grab a nap (or some one-on-one time with an older sibling). It doesn't make you
weak to ask for help.
Listen to advice, but ultimately trust yourself
You know your baby better than anybody else - well meaning relatives or advice
in a baby book. By all means ask for advice, read those books - but follow what your intuition is
telling you is right. Just because someones already raised a family, doesn't mean they know better
than you or that they know what is right for your family. Be picky - take the bits of advice
that fit for you and leave the rest.
Treasure every moment
My youngest is almost 2 and I can't believe how fast the time has gone. She isn't
a baby any longer - and as my last that's kinda hard to accept! Enjoy those baby fingers, chubby
thighs and teeny toes. Take a million pictures. Spend hours watching your baby sleep, singing to
them, cuddling them. Time flies all to quickly, enjoy every single moment and cherish each one.
