Work day

Being a work from home mom isn't easy, it takes a delicate balance of knowing when to work and when to play. It means changing diapers, getting little ones dressed, and running errands in between phone calls, emails, and work time.

Here's a glimpse of a typical "work" day for me.

Meet my assistant.

Perfect tunes for the day.

Incoming package.

Cut, dyed, stenciled, almost ready.

Cutting, cutting, cutting.

This is all sandwiched in between taking care of two sick little ones, cleaning, laundry, folding, playing, cooking, and playing some music.

Running your own creative business means you're in charge of where you go. It's liberating and a little daunting. I feel like I have a decent balance of working when I have the time and knowing when to put it aside for the day and be present with my family. It's all about time management. Setting goals, getting them done in the time where it's available, and setting limits -- putting away your project/work emails when the kids wake up or when the husband gets home.
With all that being said, working from home is the best decision for our family. I'm home with our girls, able to have an outlet for my creative side, and be able to steer the direction of my business.

More posts tomorrow from this rainy day! A new Freestyle Fashion and Organic Cooking recipe.

If you work at home, what are some of your tips for staying sane??

xo!
